Job summary

Polaris Education - Selwyn Hall School in Foxton, Cambridgeshire, seeks a dedicated One-to-One Teaching Assistant on a fixed-term, 1-year contract (term time only) to support a pupil or small group. The role requires strong GCSEs, experience as a TA, and SEMH experience.

You will mentor learners, support lesson delivery, report progress, supervise during non-classroom time, assist with planning and marking, and contribute to a positive learning environment. DBS checks will be completed.

Qualifications

• Strong basic education, ideally to A-level, with GCSEs in English Language and Mathematics.
• Experience as a Teaching Assistant or similar.
• Experience with SEMH in an educational setting.
• Willing to take additional responsibilities (e.g., food hygiene, forest school, lunchtimes, or school yoga).
• Experience with behaviour management.
• Committed to professional development.

Responsibilities

• Mentor and support one pupil or a small group of up to six.
• Support the classroom teacher during lessons.
• Report on pupils' progress and concerns, liaise with staff.
• Supervise pupils during non-classroom time, including activities and trips.
• Assist with lesson planning and classroom preparation.
• Set work where appropriate and marking.
• Build positive relationships and drive interaction and learning outcomes.
