Job summary

Polaris Education - Selwyn Hall School is seeking a dedicated One-to-One Teaching Assistant for a fixed-term, 1-year contract. The role is full-time, 37.5 hours per week, term-time only, based in Foxton, Cambridgeshire, with 8 vacancies and ASAP start.

The school offers a supportive environment in an SEN setting, with a focus on SEMH pupils. The successful candidate will have GCSEs in English and Maths, plus experience in similar roles and a willingness to take on additional responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Strong basic education with GCSEs in English and Maths.
• Experience in a Teaching Assistant role is desirable.
• Experience working with SEMH pupils in education helps.
• Willing to take additional responsibilities (e.g., forest school, lunchtimes).
• Experience with behaviour management and positive techniques.

Responsibilities

• Mentor and support one pupil, or a small group of up to six.
• Support the classroom teacher during lessons.
• Report on pupils' progress and liaise with staff to meet needs.
• Supervise pupils during non-classroom time, trips and activities.
• Assist with lesson planning and classroom preparation.
• Set work where appropriate and mark assignments.
• Build positive relationships to drive learning outcomes.
