Job summary

Polaris Education - Elmy Hall School, Northwich invites applications for a One-to-One Teaching Assistant. This full-time, 12-month fixed-term role is term-time only and focuses on supporting a pupil or small group to achieve strong learning outcomes.

You will work with a class teacher, monitor progress, assist with planning, and help create a safe, positive learning environment for pupils aged 5 to 16 with complex needs. DBS checks will be completed for the successful candidate.

Qualifications

• GCSEs in English Language and Mathematics (C or better) with good IT skills.
• Experience as a Teaching Assistant or similar role.
• Experience with SEMH pupils in an educational setting.
• Willingness to take extra responsibilities (e.g., food hygiene, forest school, lunchtimes, yoga).
• Experience of behaviour management and techniques.
• Commitment to professional development and ongoing learning.

Responsibilities

• Mentor and support one pupil or a small group (max six).
• Support the classroom teacher during lessons.
• Report on pupils' progress and concerns, liaising with staff.
• Supervise pupils during non-classroom time and trips.
• Assist with lesson planning and classroom preparation.
• Set work where appropriate and mark work.
• Build positive relationships to drive learning outcomes.
