Job summary

KEYFORT Group is seeking a Learning Support Assistant for a September start in Battle Hill, Wallsend. The role focuses on dedicated one-to-one support for a young person with complex needs within an Alternative Education setting.

You will work under a Qualified Teacher and alongside other staff to implement EHCP targets. The position requires confidence, resilience and creativity, with experience in SEN or care settings.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting young people with complex needs or SEN in education, care, or related settings.
• Ability to work one-to-one with a learner in a home tutoring or dedicated classroom setting.
• Enhanced DBS registered on Update Service is ideal.
• Confident following behaviour support plans and safeguarding policies.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Resilience, adaptability, and creativity in challenging environments.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one learning support under a Qualified Teacher.
• Deliver safe, person-centred assistance aligned to EHCP goals.
• Prepare resources and activities tailored to the learner.
• Assist with administration and maintain a clean classroom.
• Promote independence and social interaction creatively.
• Collaborate with families, care staff and external professionals.
• Ensure safeguarding at all times.
