About the role
We’re looking for a Customer Service Assistant to join our team at One Stop, a subsidiary of Tesco. This fast‑paced retail environment requires flexibility and excellent customer service. You will play an important role in day‑to‑day operations, stocking shelves, processing payments and maintaining the store’s appearance. By continuously looking for ways to improve service through coaching and feedback, you help create a safe and welcoming shopping environment.
Responsibilities
- Know my customers and serve them with passion and pride, giving great natural service.
- Encourage customers to give feedback through the ‘have your say’ survey.
- Work across all areas of the store, including online, tills, replenishment, vending and stock routines to meet customer needs.
- Apply training to work safely.
- Participate in seasonal, community and charity events, creating a great inclusive atmosphere.
- Understand the store’s performance, working with the team to deliver profit.
- Live the company values, make everyone feel welcome, and follow policies.
- Clock in and out at the start and end of my shift to ensure accurate pay.
- Keep myself, colleagues and customers safe by following security procedures and wearing safety equipment where available.
- Follow the Think 25 policy when serving age‑restricted products.
- Respond quickly to assistance calls or interventions on self‑service checkouts, explaining actions to the customer.
- Work in a clean, tidy, organised manner, keeping aisles clear of congestion.
- At times, run the shift in the absence of the Shift Leader and Store Manager.
- Follow all training to keep the store safe and legal.
- If this store has a Post Office Local, undertake a post office financial and criminal conviction background check; failure to pass may result in withdrawal of the job offer.
