Job summary

Gi Group UK is seeking an experienced Production Planner to join our workshop team in Derby. This in-person, permanent role focuses on ensuring materials, components and drawings are available to keep projects moving smoothly.

Ideal candidates will have hands-on steel fabrication knowledge, strong organisational skills and the ability to read technical drawings. You will work closely with suppliers and internal teams to prevent delays and support efficient production schedules.

Qualifications

• Experience in structural steelwork or mezzanine flooring environments.
• Ability to read and understand technical drawings and material specifications.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Confident communicator with suppliers and workshop staff.

Responsibilities

• Monitor workshop requirements and ensure materials are available when needed.
• Chase outstanding steel, materials, fixings, stairs, and other project items.
• Liaise with suppliers and internal teams regarding deliveries and shortages.
• Monitor lead times and identify potential delays before they impact production.
• Check incoming materials and report discrepancies or shortages.
• Keep accurate records of orders, deliveries, and outstanding items.
• Work closely with the workshop team to understand upcoming requirements.
• Assist with stock control and replenishment.
• Communicate any issues that could affect production schedules.
• Help ensure projects are completed efficiently and on time.
