Job summary

Gi Group UK is seeking an experienced Welder Fabricator to join our Derby area team. The role involves fabricating and welding bespoke storage and handling equipment and structural steel components, working from engineering drawings, and delivering high-quality products on schedule.

You will MIG weld, measure and cut, assemble, and operate fabrication machinery, while following health and safety procedures. The position is temp-perm with hours Mon-Thu 07:00-16:30 and Fri 07:00-12:00.

Qualifications

• Experience as Welder Fabricator in manufacturing or engineering.
• Strong MIG welding experience.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Experience with mild steel and structural metalwork.
• Proficient with fabrication tools and workshop machinery.
• Excellent attention to detail and quality.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Positive, proactive problem-solving approach.

Responsibilities

• MIG weld mild steel components and assemblies.
• Fabricate bespoke storage and handling equipment from engineering drawings.
• Measure, cut, drill, and prepare materials.
• Assemble and weld structural steelwork and storage systems.
• Operate fabrication machinery and workshop equipment safely.
• Carry out quality checks to ensure work meets specifications.
• Work to production schedules and meet deadlines.
• Maintain a clean, organised and safe work environment.
• Follow all company health and safety procedures.
• Assist with installation projects when required.
