Job summary

Howco Group is seeking a Production Planner to join a busy production team in Stockport. The role involves creating and managing job card routings and ensuring materials and documentation flow to the shop floor with accuracy.

You will work with Stores/Goods Inwards, support the Sales team with quotations, and help load each production work centre efficiently while maintaining high standards of detail and communication.

Qualifications

• Experience scheduling CNC machining operations and, if possible, external services.
• Experience using and working within an ERP/MRP system environment.
• Ability to meet tight deadlines and schedules with responsiveness.
• Capable of working independently under pressure.
• Proficient in common IT tools to manage information and present to the business.

Responsibilities

• Develop route cards for efficient manufacture; liaise with programming.
• Issue shop floor documentation on time via work-to lists.
• Coordinate with Stores/Goods Inwards to secure materials and kits.
• Control rework operations by NCRs; modify route sheets when needed.
• Participate in pre-production meetings to determine manufacturing methods.
• Assist Production Scheduler to load each work centre effectively.
• Advise Sales on cost and lead time for quotations.
• Demonstrate excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Maintain strong interpersonal and written/verbal communication.
• Be a self-starter with a positive can-do attitude; collaborative and solution-focused.

Role Requirements

The role will be joining a busy production team creating and managing job card routings and allocations to various levels of manufacture

Duties and Responsibilities

• Develop route cards to ensure the most economic and efficient methods of manufacture, liaising with the programming department.
• Ensure all documentation is issued to the shop floor in a timely manner via work to lists.
• Work in conjunction with Stores / Goods Inwards to ensure all materials and Kits are available for manufacture & Assembly.
• Control all rework operation as a result of NCR's modifying route sheets if required.
• Participate in Pre-production Meetings to determine optimal manufacturing methods.
• Assist the Production Scheduler to ensure each work centre is effectively loaded.
• Provide advice and assistance to the Sales Department to enable quotations to be accurate in terms of cost and lead time
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work effectively with peers.

Accountabilities and Performance Measures

• Reporting direct to the production planning lead. .
• Produce shop floor documentation to the correct standards within a timely and efficient manner.
• Maintain a high level of housekeeping and follow the 5S program.
• Excellent timekeeping and attendance.

Job Requirements

Qualifications

• Experience of scheduling CNC machining operations and outside services desirable but not essential.
• Experience of using and working within an ERP/MRP System environment.
• Responsiveness and ability to work to tight deadlines/schedules.
• Be able to work independently under pressure.
• Fully IT proficient in typically used applications to both manage information and present to the business and customers.
