Job summary

Gi Group UK is seeking a Production Planner for our on-site workshop team in the structural steel and mezzanine flooring sector. The role focuses on ensuring materials, components, fixings, drawings and deliveries keep projects moving.

Key requirements include hands-on steel fabrication knowledge, strong organisation, ability to read drawings, and proactive problem-solving to prevent production delays.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience in steel fabrication and workshop operations.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to read and understand technical drawings and material specs.
• Confident communicator with suppliers and workshop staff.

Responsibilities

• Monitor workshop requirements and ensure materials are available when needed.
• Chase outstanding steel, materials, fixings, stairs and other items.
• Liaise with suppliers and internal teams regarding deliveries and shortages.
• Monitor lead times and flag delays before they affect production.
• Check incoming materials and report discrepancies or shortages.
• Keep accurate records of orders, deliveries and outstanding items.
• Work with the workshop team to understand upcoming requirements.
• Assist with stock control and replenishment.
• Communicate issues that could affect production schedules.
• Help ensure projects are completed efficiently and on time.
