Job summary

Amey is seeking a General Building Engineer for an on-site role at HMP Brinsford. You will work a 39-hour week on a rota basis, with a 15% weekend allowance and an on-site pattern in Featherstone, West Midlands.

The role focuses on planned and reactive maintenance within a prison environment, ensuring safety, compliance and timely tasks. Responsibilities include securing parts, managing CAFM tasks, conducting CCTV/alarm maintenance, fire safety checks, RCD testing, and reviews of water risk and

Qualifications

• General building and facilities maintenance knowledge.
• Troubleshooting and repairing electrical and mechanical systems.
• Familiarity with fire safety equipment and inspections.

Responsibilities

• Ensure availability of critical parts and manage tasks in CAFM system.
• Carry out general maintenance including CCTV and alarms.
• Perform monthly checks on fire safety equipment and emergency systems.
• Complete RCD tests and inspect Misting Units.
• Maintain fire doors and conduct water risk tests.
• Perform monthly/annual emergency lighting checks.
• Test smoke vents and assist with other duties as needed.
