Job summary

Amey is seeking an on-site General Building Engineer for HMPYOI Brinsford. You will perform planned and reactive maintenance within the prison environment, ensuring safety, compliance and uptime of critical facilities while working a 39-hour week on a rota including weekends with a 15% allowance.

Key duties include maintaining fire protection gear, security systems, fire doors, emergency lighting, tests for RCD and water temperature, and ensuring availability of parts via CAFM.

Qualifications

• Experience in multiple maintenance areas including fire, doors, extinguishers and alarm systems.
• Strong general building maintenance/DIY experience.

Responsibilities

• Ensuring availability of parts for statutory tasks and managing remedial tasks in the CAFM system.
• Performing general and semi-skilled maintenance activities, including security systems like CCTV and alarms.
• Conducting monthly checks and tests of fire extinguisher equipment, fire hydrants, and hoses.
• Completing quarterly RCD testing and inspect Misting Units.
• Maintaining fire doors and performing flushing and tap temperature tests as per water risk assessments.
• Undertaking monthly and annual emergency lighting checks.
• Checking and testing smoke vents as required.
• Carrying out any other duties as required
