Job summary

Amey is seeking a permanent General Building Engineer to join the MoJ account at HMP Swansea. The role is on-site with a 39-hour week and shift allowance, focusing on planned and reactive maintenance across the site.

You will work with the prisons maintenance team and may need Prison Security Clearance. You should have multi-area maintenance knowledge, including fire safety, doors, and CCTV systems. Amey offers a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Experience in general building maintenance.
• Experience with fire safety systems and alarms.
• Custodial environment experience desirable.

Responsibilities

• Ensure availability of critical parts for statutory tasks.
• Perform general maintenance and security system checks (CCTV/alarms).
• Conduct monthly checks of extinguishers, hydrants and hoses.
• Complete quarterly RCD testing and inspect Misting Units.
• Maintain fire doors and perform water tests per risk assessments.
• Undertake monthly and annual emergency lighting checks.
• Check and test smoke vents as required.
