Job summary

Amey is recruiting a permanent General Building Engineer for the MoJ account at HMP Cardiff, Knox Rd, Cardiff CF24 0UG. The role is on-site with a 39-hour week (8am-5pm, 1 hour lunch; 1 in 3 weekends 8am-4pm; 15% shift allowance).

You will carry out general maintenance, manage parts in CAFM, and support security systems (CCTV, alarms) with regular checks on fire equipment and emergency lighting.

Qualifications

• Experience in general building maintenance and safety systems.
• Exposure to custodial environments is a plus.
• Ability to perform routine and preventive maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Ensure availability of parts for statutory tasks and manage remedial tasks in CAFM.
• Perform general maintenance incl. CCTV and alarms.
• Monthly checks of fire extinguishers, hydrants and hoses.
• Quarterly RCD testing and inspect Misting Units.
• Maintain fire doors; conduct water temperature tests.
• Monthly/annual emergency lighting checks; test smoke vents.
• Undertake other duties as required.
