Job summary

Government Recruitment Service in Leighton Buzzard is recruiting a Verification Assurance Officer to join a frontline team dedicated to preventing fraud in the welfare system. The role focuses on interviewing claimants, verifying documentation, and educating customers about their responsibilities.

The VAO will work on-site at Jobcentres, collaborating with colleagues to strengthen fraud controls and enhance verification processes, with travel between sites as needed.

Qualifications

• Experience interviewing claimants for verification and fraud checks.
• Ability to explain responsibilities and processes clearly.
• Comfortable working in Jobcentre environments and traveling between sites.

Responsibilities

• Conduct initial evidence interviews and further evidence interviews with claimants in collaboration with Jobcentre and Service Centre colleagues.
• Verify identification, housing costs, children and childcare costs elements of Universal Credit documents.
• Provide regular feedback on fraud trends to analysts and risk teams.
• Lead customer education sessions with Jobcentre colleagues to clarify responsibilities and non-compliance consequences.
• Maintain accurate Management Information (MI) as directed by analysts and performance teams.
• Frequent travel between sites may be required.
