Job summary

Amey is recruiting an On-Site Electrician for HMP Ranby to maintain critical electrical systems within a prison environment.

You will perform planned maintenance, fault finding and replacements, ensuring safety and compliance with BS7671 and electricity-at-work regulations while working on a 39-hour week on a rota.

You will collaborate with the Responsible Person and Authorized Person, supporting security and health and safety standards across all work streams.

Qualifications

  • City & Guilds 2367 or 2357 Level 2 Electrical Installation works or equivalent.
  • BS7671 18th Edition (17th Edition with upskilling to 18th).
  • Good knowledge of Health & Safety requirements.
  • Good knowledge of planned and preventative maintenance operations.
  • Excellent organisational, time management and people skills.
  • Experience of working under pressure to tight deadlines.
  • Able to work at heights and use initiative.
  • Knowledge of Electrical Systems and Electricity at work Regulations.
  • Basic IT skills.

Responsibilities

  • Planned and preventative electrical maintenance, including administrative duties aligned to the tasks.
  • Fault finding / problem solving on electrical systems across the prison.
  • Carry out like for like replacements and other electrical minor works with inspections and tests per BS7671.
  • Ensure electrical systems are safe, compliant, and functioning effectively in a secure environment.
  • Assist the Responsible person and Authorized person when requested.
  • Ensure Health & Safety standards, Risk Assessments, and Safe Systems of Work are followed across all streams.
  • Assist escorting duties and other duties as required.

Job description

Title: On-Site Electrician

We are excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for a permanent Electrician in HMP Ranby. The standard hours of work are 39 hours per week. Staff are required to work on a rota basis between 08.00am – 17.00pm. There will be a need to work 1 in 4 weekends, but this would be on a rota basis (and with an additional allowance of 15% of basic salary). The base salary is between £30,866 - £36,135 dependant on experience. What You Will Do
  • Planned and preventative electrical maintenance, including administrative duties aligned to the tasks.
  • Actively fault finding / problem solving on electrical systems across the prison.
  • Carry out like for like replacements and other electrical minor works with the relevant electrical inspections and tests carried out and results recorded in accordance with BS7671.
  • Ensuring that all electrical systems are safe, compliant, and functioning effectively helping to create a secure and well-maintained environment for staff and residents.
  • Assist the Responsible person and Authorised person when requested.
  • You’ll be responsible for ensuring that Health & Safety standards, Risk Assessments, and Safe Systems of Work are consistently implemented and followed across all appropriate work streams.
  • Assist escorting duties and other duties as required.
What You Will Bring
  • City & Guilds 2367 or 2357 Level 2 Electrical Installation works or equivalent.
  • BS7671 18th Edition, however, we will consider 17th Edition with upskilling to 18th Edition.
  • Good working knowledge of Health & Safety requirements.
  • Good working knowledge of planned and preventative maintenance operations.
  • Excellent organisational, time management and people skills.
  • Experience of working under pressure to tight deadlines.
  • Able to work at heights, to work independently and use initiative.
  • Understanding of fire alarm and CCTV systems, which will help you make an immediate impact. (Desirable)
  • Knowledge and experience of Electrical Systems and Electricity at work Regulations.
  • Basic IT skills.
