Job summary

First Light in Swindon is recruiting a Crisis Worker (Bank) to support victims of rape and sexual assault at Swindon SARC. You will provide crisis care, participate in forensic processes, and advise clients on onward support options.

You will join a small team, work in a forensically clean environment, and may travel to other Wiltshire sites. Attendance at monthly meetings and training is required, with on-call shifts and potential overtime.

Qualifications

• DNA sample may be required for process elimination with forensic provider.
• Police vetting is required.
• Full clean driving licence and use of a car are essential.
• Must be able to reach Swindon SARC within 90 minutes of call out (Gloucester within 2 hours).
• Adherence to GDPR and confidentiality is mandatory.
• Overtime may be required with additional hours paid.

Responsibilities

• Provide support and crisis management to individuals who have experienced rape or sexual assault.
• Answer the SARC Crisis Line during on-call shifts.
• Attend the SARC and support the forensic medical process, acting as advocate for the victim.
• Provide information and support to clients accessing the service.
• Make onward safeguarding referrals to appropriate services.
• Create client records on the SARC Client Management System.
• Liaise with the on-duty Sexual Offence Examiner (SOE) on behalf of the client.
• Attend/train for role duties and complete all required training.
• Perform forensic cleaning of the SARC suite after each case.
• Support outreach and engagement events with Swindon SARC team across Wiltshire.
• Provide cover for the Swindon SARC admin team during staff shortages.
