Job description

Registered Manager Children's Home

Location: Harrow HA3

Salary: £45-60K (Dependent on experience)

Reports to: Responsible Individual

Hours: Full-time (including on-call duties as required)

Regulatory Body: OFSTED

Job Purpose:

To lead, manage, and develop a children's residential home in accordance with the Children s Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and OFSTED standards. The Registered Manager ensures high-quality care and outcomes for children and young people, safeguarding their welfare and promoting their development in a safe, nurturing, and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Management

Take overall responsibility for the day-to-day management of the home.

Provide strong leadership, support, and supervision to staff, promoting a positive team culture.

Ensure staff are trained, competent, and motivated to deliver high standards of care.

Develop and implement policies, procedures, and care practices in line with legislation and OFSTED regulations.

Safeguarding & Child Protection

Act as the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) for the home.

Ensure all safeguarding concerns are dealt with in line with local and national guidance.

Foster a culture of openness, safety, and trust for all residents and staff.

Quality Assurance & Compliance

Maintain compliance with the Children s Homes Regulations, Quality Standards, and OFSTED requirements.

Prepare for and lead OFSTED inspections and respond to regulatory feedback.

Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, reports, and care plans.

Care Planning & Outcomes

Ensure each child has an up-to-date care plan tailored to their needs, goals, and aspirations.

Promote positive outcomes in education, health, emotional well-being, and independence.

Facilitate regular reviews, keywork sessions, and care plan updates.

Financial & Operational Management

Manage budgets effectively and ensure value for money.

Oversee rota planning, staffing levels, and resources to ensure smooth operation.

Liaise with external professionals, local authorities, and families as needed.

Qualifications & Experience:

Essential:

Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent).

At least 2 years of experience working in a children's residential setting within the last 5 years.

At least 1 year in a supervisory or management role in a children s home.

In-depth knowledge of safeguarding, child protection, and OFSTED regulations.

Ability to register with OFSTED as a Registered Manager.

Desirable:

Experience managing an OFSTED-rated "Good" or "Outstanding" home.

Therapeutic or trauma-informed care experience.

Full UK driving licence.
