Job summary

Valaris is seeking an Offshore Crane Operator Assistant to support crane operations on offshore rigs. You will work under the Crane Operator, inspecting equipment, training crew on safety, and ensuring lifts comply with load limits and tagging procedures.

The role requires current Crane Operator certification and offshore experience. You will assist with safety training, rig moves, and maintaining records in a high-risk offshore environment.

Qualifications

• Must meet training and certification requirements which vary by unit location according to local requirements and regulations.
• Current Crane Operator certification required.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for safety of crew and operation of crane equipment under Crane Operator direction.
• Inspects and trains personnel to inspect rig safety apparatus and equipment for meeting company and industry regulations.
• Follows lock-out, tag-out procedures.
• Assures lifts are within load limits and correctly rigged.
• Assists in orientation and training of Roustabouts on safety topics.
• Operates crane equipment in the absence of the Crane Operator to hoist materials onto the rig and vessels.
• Organizes, plans, and monitors Roustabout work; assists with rig moves.
• Performs preventive maintenance to ensure safe crane operation.
• Maintains Crane record books and ensures compliance with Permit to Work system.
