Transcomm Recruitment Ltd is seeking an Ocean Import Operator to join our expanding team in Southall. The role focuses on delivering full customer service, completing customs procedures with accuracy, and handling delivery bookings with timely invoicing.

Experience in ocean freight is essential; air or road freight knowledge is a bonus. Proficiency in Cargowise, B/L procedures and related freight systems will be required to ensure smooth operations.

Responsibilities

• Arrange cargo pre-shipment with origin partner office.
• Ensure notes and eDocs are shown in the job in Cargowise.
• Ensure credit control procedures are adhered to.
• Ensure all jobs are loaded correctly.
• Ensure Bills of Lading are endorsed correctly and update receipt in Cargowise.
• Utilise shipment filters and reports to be proactive.
• Ensure daily ETA checks are completed.
• Raise non-conformances for all issues.
• Chase clients for documentation.
• Raise invoice to the client at the correct time.
• Update action lists daily for all customers.
• Identify procedural inadequacies and suggest improvements.
• Ensure CFSP deadlines are met, internal and by Customs.
• Ensure accurate use of Customs tariff to increase efficiency and service.
• Ensure all Customs entries are pre-lodged on time.
• Check entries in detail following check sheets.

Job description

A major UK & International freight forwarder is looking to add an Ocean import Operator to their expanding team.

The role is to ensure full and satisfactory customer service.

Ensure professional and courteous manner to clients at all times.

Complete Customs procedures with total accuracy.

Handle all delivery booking formalities.

Generate accurate invoice to client for all shipment related charges.

BASIC SALARY

£35k to £38k

HOURS

Monday to Friday, 8 hours between 8am and 5:30pm

ROLE

• Ensure daily ETA checks are completed
• Raise non conformances for all non conforming issues
• Ensure clients are chased for documentation
• Ensure invoice is raised to the client at the correct time
• Update action lists for all customers daily if applicable
• Identify procedural inadequacies & offer suggestions for improvements
• Ensure all CFSP deadlines are met, both internal & those defined by Customs
• Ensure accurate use of Customs tariff within the team to both increase efficiency & Customer service levels
• Ensure all Customs entries are pre-lodged on time
• Ensure entries are checked in detail following check sheets

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Ocean freight is essential for this role, with some air freight. The ideal candidate must possess Ocean freight import and any Air or road freight experience is a bonus, but not essential. The role is to process and check all ocean and some air freight forwarding & all documentation. Ideally experience of Cargowise, Bills of Lading and adequate knowledge of CNS, Destin8, CDS, ASM&/ or Ricardo
