Job summary

Tall Grass Recruitment is assisting an independent freight forwarder with 35+ years in the industry to recruit an Ocean Import Operator. The role sits in Northwich with hybrid working and a clear path for career growth.

You will coordinate ocean import shipments from origin to delivery, manage FCL/LCL, liaise with overseas agents and customers, and prepare documentation using CargoWise. Far East sea experience is desirable.

Qualifications

• Previous ocean import experience in freight forwarding.
• Knowledge of FCL/LCL shipments and import documentation.
• Organised and detail-focused with ability to manage multiple shipments.
• Clear communicator with strong customer service approach.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate ocean import shipments from origin through final delivery.
• Manage FCL and LCL shipments and liaise with overseas agents, lines, hauliers and customers.
• Prepare and check shipping and customs documentation.
• Monitor shipment milestones and update customers on progress.
• Arrange transport and delivery, resolving issues or delays.
• Process shipment information and maintain records in CargoWise.
• Support invoicing and ensure files are completed correctly.

We are proud to be working with an independent freight forwarder who has been in business for over 35 years.

They really understand the needs of their clients and provide flexible and cost-effective solutions to meet international shipping requirements. Importing from China or exporting to the USA, you can rely on the experience of their global logistics experts to ensure the seamless transportation and delivery of your goods by air or sea.

They are looking to add an Ocean Import Operator who ideally has Far East Sea experience to their ever-growing team. You will be reporting to their branch manager in Northwich, who has a vast amount of experience.

Tasks

• Coordinate ocean import shipments from origin through to final delivery
• Manage FCL and LCL shipments and liaise with overseas agents, shipping lines, hauliers and customers
• Prepare and check shipping and customs documentation
• Monitor shipment milestones and keep customers updated on progress
• Arrange transport and delivery, resolving any issues or delays
• Process shipment information and maintain accurate records in CargoWise
• Support invoicing and ensure files are completed correctly

Profile

• Previous experience in an ocean import role within freight forwarding
• Confident using CargoWise in a freight operations environment
• Knowledge of FCL and LCL shipments and import documentation
• Organised, detail-focused and comfortable managing multiple shipments
• A clear communicator with a helpful approach to customer service

We offer

• Salary of up to £40,000, depending on experience
