An established industry player in mental health services is seeking a passionate Occupational Therapist to join their dynamic team. This role focuses on delivering therapeutic and recreational activities that aid in the rehabilitation and recovery of individuals facing mental health challenges. To participate as a member of the ward team, working closely with the nursing team but with an occupational lens. Support will be offered from senior OTs within the Southwark OT leadership team. The role involves providing a programme of therapeutic and recreational activities (both group and 1:1) to support the rehabilitation and recovery of service users experiencing mental illness. The programme will be developed and implemented under the supervision of the ward manager and a senior occupational therapist, in liaison with service users and the ward team.
SLaM provides the widest range of NHS mental health services in the UK, including substance misuse services for individuals addicted to drugs and alcohol. We collaborate closely with the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience (IoPPN), King's College London, and are part of King's Health Partners Academic Health Sciences Centre. Our scope is unique, built on three major pillars: care and treatment, science and research, and training.
We employ around 5,000 staff and serve a local population of 1.1 million. We operate over 230 services, including inpatient wards, outpatient, and community services. Annually, we provide inpatient care for approximately 5,300 individuals and treat over 45,000 patients in the community across Croydon, Lambeth, Lewisham, and Southwark, as well as substance misuse services for residents of Bexley, Bromley, and Greenwich.
