Asda is seeking an experienced Observability Engineer to join the Cloud Platform Team in the UK. The role focuses on improving reliability, performance and operational visibility across Azure estates with hands-on work on New Relic, Azure monitoring, automation and standards.

You will develop dashboards, alerts and Service Level monitoring, expand coverage with IaC, and support incident investigations while driving improvements in service reliability across critical business platforms.

Asda is looking for an experienced Observability Engineer to join the Cloud Platform Team, helping to improve the reliability, performance and operational visibility of services across one of the UK's largest Azure estates.

This is a hands-on engineering role focused on enterprise observability, New Relic, Azure monitoring, automation and engineering standards. You'll play a key role in helping teams gain actionable insights into their services, improving operational excellence and supporting the reliability of critical business platforms.

Key Responsibilities

• Build, support and continuously improve enterprise observability capabilities.
• Develop and maintain New Relic dashboards, alerts and service-level monitoring.
• Enhance Azure monitoring coverage across cloud platforms and applications.
• Deliver monitoring and observability solutions through Infrastructure as Code.
• Support incident investigation, troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
• Drive improvements in service reliability, availability and performance.
• Promote observability best practices across engineering teams.
• Contribute to automation and standardisation initiatives within the Cloud Platform Team.

Essential Technical Skills

• New Relic in enterprise production environments
• Microsoft Azure and Azure Monitor
• OpenTelemetry

• GitHub and Azure DevOps
• Metrics, logs, traces and synthetic monitoring
• Dashboard development, alerting and service health monitoring

• Experience implementing observability standards and governance

About You

You’ll be an experienced observability engineer with strong expertise in New Relic, Azure and modern monitoring practices. You’ll be passionate about using telemetry to improve service reliability and performance, with a pragmatic approach to automation, operational excellence and continuous improvement.

You’ll be comfortable working with engineering teams across a large enterprise environment, helping translate complex metrics, logs and traces into clear operational insight and meaningful actions.
