Job summary

ALTEN is seeking a Design Engineer to join our automotive engineering team in Gaydon. You will design and develop high-quality components and systems using Siemens NX, creating 3D models and detailed drawings from concept through production.

You will collaborate with manufacturing, quality and simulation teams, participate in design reviews, manage engineering changes, and help drive manufacturability and performance. On-site role with clear progression opportunities.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Design Engineer within the automotive sector.
• Strong proficiency in Siemens NX (essential).
• Experience delivering component or system designs from concept through to production.
• Good understanding of manufacturing processes, GD&T, and engineering drawings.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary engineering environment.

Responsibilities

• Create and modify 3D CAD models and detailed engineering drawings using NX.
• Develop design solutions that meet functional, performance, quality, and manufacturing requirements.
• Support concept generation, detailed design, and engineering release activities.
• Work collaboratively with manufacturing, quality, simulation, and validation teams.
• Participate in design reviews and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
• Manage engineering changes and ensure compliance with project requirements and standards.
• Support prototype and production build activities where required.
