Job summary

ALTEN, a global engineering consultancy, seeks a Design Engineer for automotive components and systems. You will drive concepts through production with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative, manufacturable, and performance-driven solutions on tight schedules.

Based at Gaydon, this on-site role requires strong NX expertise and a solid engineering background, ideally in premium automotive environments. You will engage in design reviews and support changes across development stages.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Design Engineer within the automotive sector.
• Strong proficiency in Siemens NX (essential).
• Experience delivering component or system designs from concept through to production.
• Good understanding of manufacturing processes, GD&T, and engineering drawings.

Responsibilities

• Create and modify 3D CAD models and detailed engineering drawings using NX.
• Develop design solutions that meet functional, performance, quality, and manufacturing requirements.
• Support concept generation, detailed design, and engineering release activities.
• Work collaboratively with manufacturing, quality, simulation, and validation teams.
• Participate in design reviews and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
• Manage engineering changes and ensure compliance with project requirements and standards.
• Support prototype and production build activities where required.

Job Description

As a Design Engineer, you will be responsible for the design and development of high-quality automotive components and systems, supporting products from concept through to production. You will work closely with cross-functional engineering teams to deliver innovative, manufacturable, and performance-driven solutions within demanding project timelines.

• On Site: Fully Onsite

Key Responsibilities:

• Create and modify 3D CAD models and detailed engineering drawings using NX.
• Develop design solutions that meet functional, performance, quality, and manufacturing requirements.
• Support concept generation, detailed design, and engineering release activities.
• Work collaboratively with manufacturing, quality, simulation, and validation teams.

Required Qualifications:

• A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, orequivalentmilitary experience.
• Experience within luxury, performance, motorsport, or premium automotive environments.
• Background working with manufacturers or engineering organisations associated with high-performance vehicle development.
• Exposure to Formula 1, motorsport, luxury vehicle, or advanced automotive programmes.
• Knowledge of automotive design and release processes.
