Job summary

ALTEN is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer in Bicester to join our engineering team on an exciting programme. You will develop 3D mechanical designs using Siemens NX and produce 2D drawings for manufacture, while collaborating with engineering, manufacturing and technical teams throughout the lifecycle.

The role requires 3+ years in mechanical design (aerospace preferred) and strong Siemens NX proficiency, with a degree in engineering or equivalent military experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, or equivalent military experience.
• 3+ years’ experience within Mechanical Design, CAD Engineering or a similar role.
• Experience within the Aerospace Industry.
• Strong hands-on experience with Siemens NX – mandatory.
• Experience creating detailed 3D models and 2D manufacturing drawings.
• Good understanding of mechanical engineering and design principles.
• Experience working with mechanical components and assemblies.
• Ability to interpret technical specifications and engineering requirements.

Responsibilities

• Develop and modify 3D mechanical designs using Siemens NX.
• Produce accurate 2D engineering drawings to support manufacture and assembly.
• Design mechanical components and assemblies in line with engineering requirements.
• Work closely with engineering, manufacturing and technical teams throughout the design lifecycle.
• Review existing designs and implement engineering modifications where required.
• Ensure designs meet relevant quality, manufacturing and technical standards.
• Support design reviews and resolve technical issues during development.
