Job summary

ALTEN is seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join our UK engineering team on a challenging programme in Bicester. The role focuses on developing 3D mechanical designs and 2D manufacturing drawings using Siemens NX within a highly regulated environment.

You will work with cross-functional teams across engineering and manufacturing to ensure designs meet quality and production standards, with opportunities for learning and career growth.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in Mechanical Design/CAD
• Experience within the Aerospace industry
• Strong hands-on experience with Siemens NX

Responsibilities

• Develop and modify 3D mechanical designs using Siemens NX
• Produce accurate 2D engineering drawings to support manufacture and assembly
• Design mechanical components and assemblies in line with engineering requirements
• Work closely with engineering, manufacturing and technical teams throughout the design lifecycle
• Review existing designs and implement engineering modifications where required
• Ensure designs meet relevant quality, manufacturing and technical standards
• Support design reviews and resolve technical issues during development

Job Description

ALTEN is looking for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join our engineering team, supporting an exciting and technically challenging engineering programme.

This opportunity would suit a Mechanical Design Engineer with strong Siemens NX experience who is confident developing detailed 3D designs and engineering drawings within a complex engineering environment.

• Location: Bicester
• On Site: Onsite

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and modify 3D mechanical designs using Siemens NX
• Produce accurate 2D engineering drawings to support manufacture and assembly
• Design mechanical components and assemblies in line with engineering requirements
• Work closely with engineering, manufacturing and technical teams throughout the design lifecycle
• Review existing designs and implement engineering modifications where required
• Ensure designs meet relevant quality, manufacturing and technical standards
• Support design reviews and resolve technical issues during development

Qualifications

Required Skills:

• 3+ years’ experience within Mechanical Design, CAD Engineering or a similar role
• Experiencewithin the Aerospace Industry
• Strong hands‑on experience with Siemens NX – mandatory
• Experience creating detailed 3D models and 2D manufacturing drawings
• Good understanding of mechanical engineering and design principles
• Experience working with mechanical components and assemblies
• Ability to interpret technical specifications and engineering requirements

Required Qualifications:

• A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, orequivalentmilitary experience.
• Experience within a highly regulated or complex engineering environment
• Knowledge of GD&T and engineering tolerancing
• Understanding of manufacturing processes and design for manufacture
• Experience supporting designs from concept through to production
