Job summary

Recruit by Nature is seeking a Nursery Room Leader in Midhurst, West Sussex (GU29) to oversee a busy room for three months to five years. You will lead a dedicated team, plan play-based learning and foster strong relationships with families in a purpose-led setting.

The role requires room leadership, EYFS understanding and a warm, collaborative approach. The environment supports development through outdoor learning, reflective practice and professional growth.

Qualifications

  • Relevant early years qualifications and room leadership experience.
  • Experience leading daily room practice in an early years setting.
  • Knowledge of child development, safeguarding and the EYFS.

  • Take responsibility for room organisation, routines, records and learning experiences.

Nursery Room Leader - Midhurst, West Sussex, GU29 Step into a Nursery Room Leader role in a purpose-led early years setting close to Midhurst town centre. You will help lead high-quality care and learning for children aged from three months to five years, working within a thoughtful environment shaped by Reggio Emilia, Scandinavian and forestry principles. This permanent, full-time position will suit an experienced early years professional who values child-led learning, nurturing relationships and reflective practice.

Employment Type Permanent, full-time, all-year-round position working 40 hours per week.

Salary £29,000 to £30,000 per annum + benefits

Working Hours & Shift Pattern Permanent, full-time employment, 40 hours per week. Midhurst, West Sussex, GU29 area.

  • Work all year round in a full-time nursery position
  • Work across Babies, Toddlers and Pre-School groups as required
  • Be based within a purpose-led setting close to Midhurst town centre
  • Support daily routines, learning experiences and room organisation within the nursery

Job Description As a Nursery Room Leader, you will deliver high-quality care, learning and development opportunities for children aged three months to five years within a welcoming Midhurst nursery setting. You will help lead a room team, create engaging child-led experiences and build strong relationships with children and families. Based in the GU29 area, the setting includes three rooms, an open-plan garden and carefully planned environments influenced by Reggio Emilia, Scandinavian and forestry principles.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the day-to-day organisation and delivery of your nursery room
  • Provide warm, responsive care that supports children’s wellbeing and development
  • Plan and deliver purposeful, child-led learning experiences through play and exploration

Essential Requirements

  • You must already have the right to work in the UK. Sponsorship is not available for this role.
  • Relevant early years qualifications and experience suitable for room leadership
  • Experience working in an early years or childcare setting, with the confidence to lead daily room practice
  • Knowledge of child development, safeguarding and the Early Years Foundation Stage
  • Ability to plan purposeful play, support child-led learning and respond to individual needs
  • Warm, communicative and collaborative approach when working with children, families and colleagues
  • Ability to take responsibility for room organisation, routines, records and learning experiences
