Job summary

Recruit by Nature is seeking a Nursery Room Leader in Midhurst, West Sussex (GU29) to oversee a busy room for three months to five years. You will lead a dedicated team, plan play-based learning and foster strong relationships with families in a purpose-led setting.

The role requires room leadership, EYFS understanding and a warm, collaborative approach. The environment supports development through outdoor learning, reflective practice and professional growth.

Qualifications

• Must have the right to work in the UK; sponsorship is not available.
• Relevant early years qualifications and room leadership experience.
• Experience leading daily room practice in an early years setting.
• Knowledge of child development, safeguarding and the EYFS.
• Ability to plan purposeful play and respond to individual needs.
• Warm, collaborative approach with children, families and colleagues.
• Take responsibility for room organisation, routines, records and learning experiences.
• Also suitable for: Early Years Room Leader, Senior Room Leader, Nursery Supervisor, Room Manager.

Responsibilities

• Lead the day-to-day organisation and delivery of your nursery room.
• Provide warm, responsive care that supports children’s wellbeing and development.
• Plan and deliver purposeful, child-led learning experiences through play and exploration.
• Observe children’s interests, progress and development and use this information to inform planning.
• Create stimulating indoor and outdoor learning opportunities, including forestry-inspired experiences.
• Build positive, respectful relationships with children, parents, carers and colleagues.
• Work with the nursery team to maintain high standards and consistent practice.
• Support safeguarding, health and safety and nursery procedures.
• Maintain accurate observations, records and learning documentation.
• Contribute to a nurturing, inclusive environment where every child can thrive.
