Job summary

Tommies Childcare in Birmingham is seeking dedicated Nursery Practitioners to join our caring team. You will provide a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment for children aged 0–5, supporting their early development and learning.

You will plan and deliver engaging activities, supervise daily routines, and foster strong relationships with children, parents and colleagues. The role offers varied shifts between 7:30am and 6pm, with 30 hours per week across 51 weeks.

Qualifications

• Proven experience working with children within a nursery or early childhood education setting.
• Strong understanding of child development principles and childcare best practices.
• Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
• Experience with organising activities that promote learning through play.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging activities tailored to children's developmental stages.
• Supervise children during playtime, mealtimes, and rest periods.
• Foster positive relationships with children, parents, and colleagues through effective communication.
• Maintain accurate records of children's progress and daily routines.
• Organise and oversee daily routines, including arrival and departure procedures.
• Support colleagues in managing behavioural issues using appropriate strategies.
• Contribute to the organisation of nursery events and activities that promote socialisation and learning.
• Assist with administrative tasks related to childcare documentation as required.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations within the nursery environment.
