Job summary

St George’s Nursery is hiring a reliable Nursery Cook to plan, prepare and cook meals for children, ensuring balanced options that meet dietary needs. The role emphasizes high food hygiene, stock management, and collaboration with the Nursery Manager.

Part-time position: 25 hours per week with a pay rate of £12.95 per hour. Experience in childcare catering and a Level 2+ Food Hygiene certificate are preferred to support children's health and nutrition.

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid Food Hygiene certificate (Level 2 or higher).
• Previous catering experience, preferably with children in childcare, school, or care settings.
• Understanding of allergens and safe storage practices.
• Strong organisational skills and ability to work independently.
• Genuine passion for children’s health and nutrition.

Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare, and cook daily meals and snacks for children across the nursery.
• Cater for all dietary requirements, allergies, and cultural preferences.
• Maintain high standards of food hygiene and safety at all times.
• Keep accurate kitchen records, stock checks, and temperature logs.

The Role

You will:

• Work closely with the Nursery Manager to create seasonal menus that are healthy, appealing, and fun for children.

• Maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment.

What We’re Looking For:

• Food Hygiene certificate (Level 2 or higher).

• Previous experience in catering, ideally in a childcare, school, or care setting.
