Job summary

Wirral Community Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a skilled Nurse Practitioner to join the Minor Injuries Unit at our Victoria Central Health Centre site. You will provide autonomous clinical care, assess and manage both children and adults, and contribute to developing services in collaboration with primary and community care partners.

Ideal candidates will have current NMC registration, post-registration CPD, and experience in MIU or urgent care settings.

Qualifications

• Current registration with NMC
• First Level Nurse
• Clinical examination qualification
• Evidence of post registration development at Degree Level
• Evidence of Continuing Professional Development, relevant to MIU/WIC competences
• Intermediate Cardiac Life Support
• Non Medical Prescribing
• Practitioner Qualification
• Minimum of 5 years post registration
• Understanding of Clinical Governance
• Recent experience of autonomous clinical decision making
• Experience in a triage, accident and emergency, minor injuries, a nurse led primary care setting or another specialist area directly relevant to MIU presentations
• Clinically credible and competent
• Experience of undertaking clinical procedures relevant to MIU/WIC e.g. wound management, use of early warning scores, plastering
• Experience of working a multi-disciplinary team
• I.T. literate
• Ability to work autonomously
• Good communication skills
• Wound closure e.g suturing
• X-Ray interpretation
• Good attendance record
• Flexible approach to working practices
• Ability to reflect and promote own learning

Responsibilities

• To assess, plan, implement and evaluate programmes of evidence based nursing and clinical care
• To provide expert advice and clinical practice.
• To participate in the education and development of self and other staff
• To work collaboratively and co-operatively with clinical colleagues to develop services and quality of care delivered.
• To autonomously assess, diagnose and treat children and adults who attend the Walk-in Centre with undifferentiated, undiagnosed conditions
