Job summary

Maximus is hiring a Nurse Functional Assessor in Northampton on a hybrid basis. The role involves using clinical expertise to assess how a person’s disability or health condition affects daily living, supporting DWP decision-making on benefits eligibility.

The position offers a six-week training programme, ongoing mentorship, flexible working patterns, and a comprehensive benefits package including life insurance and healthcare support.

Qualifications

• Valid NMC registration
• At least 1 year post-registration adult or mental health experience
• Right to work in the UK – no sponsorship
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Comfortable using computer software to type and produce detailed reports

Responsibilities

• Conduct telephone, video or face-to-face assessments to understand how a person's disability or health condition affects their daily life
• Produce Work Capability Assessment (WCA) reports to help the DWP determine eligibility for benefits
• Develop clinical knowledge and assessment skills with regular feedback and supervision
