Job summary

ExamWorks Group is seeking a Nurse Assessor for an on-site role based in Stockport, delivering Functional Assessments for the DWP. The position supports qualified healthcare professionals (RNs, Paramedics, OTs, or Physiotherapists) with a strong emphasis on accurate reporting and client empathy, with potential for career progression.

The role requires clinically active registration, at least 1 year post‑qualification experience, and proficiency in documentation.

Qualifications

• 1 year post‑qualification experience as Registered Nurse (RGN, RMN, RNLD), Paramedic, Occupational Therapist, or Physiotherapist.
• Valid PIN and full registration on NMC or HCPC with no conditions or restrictions.
• Excellent communication and empathy, able to listen and explore when required.
• Strong time‑management and ability to produce accurate reports.
• Comfortable with typing and basic computer use.
• Passion for working with people with mental and physical health conditions.
• Knowledge of chronic conditions across medical, chronic, and acute settings.

Responsibilities

What We’re Looking For

• A minimum of 1 year post‑qualification experience as a Registered Nurse (RGN, RMN, RNLD), Paramedic, Occupational Therapist, or Physiotherapist.
• Valid PIN and full registration on the NMC or HCPC, with no conditions or restrictions.
• Excellent communication skills, including the ability to listen, show empathy, and explore further when required.
• Strong time‑management skills with the ability to work to targets and maintain the quality of reports.
• Good level of computer literacy and to be comfortable with typing.
• A passion for working with and supporting people with both mental and physical health conditions.
• A strong knowledge of long‑term and chronic conditions, with experience across medical, chronic illness and acute settings.

Your Role as a Nurse Assessor

You will be using your clinical expertise to assess and analyse medical evidence, assessing individuals online and face to face, and providing comprehensive, evidence‑based reports.

• Produce detailed reports that justify your findings and recommendations to support the DWP in the decision‑making process.
• Work closely with claimants to ensure they are fully informed during the assessment process, managing their expectations and being empathetic during a difficult situation.
