Job summary

Magnox (NRS) at Trawsfynydd is seeking a technically skilled waste management specialist to support decommissioning programmes, providing expert advice on waste classification, regulatory compliance and environmental controls.

You will lead waste characterisation activities, prepare information for disposal routes, implement data systems, and influence design decisions to minimise waste while ensuring safety and regulatory standards are met.

Qualifications

• HNC or equivalent qualification in a scientific, engineering or environmental discipline.
• Strong knowledge of environmental and waste-related legislation, including radioactive and controlled wastes.
• Experience in nuclear waste management and working within regulated environments.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialist advice on waste management, radioactive waste compliance and transport legislation.
• Lead waste characterisation activities and prepare information for disposal routes.
• Support implementation and use of waste data systems (WIMS) and improve data quality.
• Influence design decisions early to minimise waste and ensure environmental permitting and waste criteria are met.
• Engage with project teams, regulators and contractors to deliver safe, compliant waste solutions.
