Job summary

AWE is seeking a Waste Officer to join our team at Aldermaston. You will act as the local waste specialist, coordinating waste activities across radioactive, controlled or aqueous streams and ensuring regulatory compliance at site level.

You will drive the reduction of legacy waste, provide expert advice, and support AWE's environmental, safety and sustainability objectives while engaging with stakeholders and maintaining high standards of safety.

Qualifications

• Experience in customer-focused environments and stakeholder engagement.
• Ability to produce clear reports and deliver presentations.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to manage complex issues.
• Knowledge of nuclear site licence conditions and Environmental Permit requirements.
• Experience supporting environmental or regulatory compliance activities.

Responsibilities

• Act as local waste specialist at the facility or project.
• Coordinate waste activities and advise on radioactive waste management.
• Ensure regulatory compliance and drive reduction of legacy wastes.
• Support environmental safety and sustainability objectives.
