Job summary

Amentum’s Independent Nuclear Assurance team is seeking a Nuclear Technical Engineer to deliver safety and technical advice for MoD-supported submarine programmes in the UK.

You will work on Naval Reactor Plants, contribute to safety cases, and coordinate outputs with internal teams and MoD contractors. Strong written communication and nuclear safety knowledge are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Degree (Level 6) in Science or Engineering (or equivalent).
• Clear, concise technical writing and communication skills.
• Membership of (or working towards) a professional institution is desirable.
• Knowledge or operational experience of the Naval Reactor Plant is desirable.
• Knowledge of safety cases (structures and function).
• Familiarity with related documentation (NRPA NSMAs, DSA02-DNSR, ONR SAPs etc).

Responsibilities

• Providing authoritative advice to MoD through safety and technical assessments.
• Co-ordinating advice/output across a range of relevant technical disciplines.
• Working according to safety, technical and regulatory standards to support programmes.
• Ensuring health, safety, environment and security requirements are met and improvements pursued.
• Supporting collaborative meetings with MoD and their contractors.
