Job summary

Amentum is recruiting a Fire Engineer to conduct internal fire studies across Nuclear Island facilities at HPC, ensuring safety functions align with UK codes and standards and supporting design changes.

You will prepare analyses, perform temperature-change calculations with MAGIC software, review UK Fire Regulations including BS9999, and provide technical support to meet project milestones while upholding safety and quality commitments.

Qualifications

• Degree in safety or fire protection (or equivalent).
• Knowledge of nuclear safety, including fault studies.
• ETC-F knowledge is a plus.
• Knowledge of UK Fire Regulations including BS9999.
• Ability to perform calculations related to fire protection.
• Ability to propose fire protection and detection solutions.
• Conscientious, enthusiastic with good interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Characterise materials and assess fire risks in areas.
• Perform temperature-change calculations for simulated fires (MAGIC).
• Study damage risk to systems and address issues for Nuclear Safety.
• Provide technical support to systems and layout teams on Fire matters.
• Contribute to potential design changes affecting Fire studies.
• Perform regulatory assessment for fire life safety.
• Recommend protection solutions to prevent or reduce fire outbreaks.
• Prepare and monitor deliverables consistent with project planning and QA processes.
• Participate in committees and task forces to provide Fire safety perspective.
