Job summary

EDF UK is seeking an EC&I Engineer to support the design, safety assessment and regulatory justification for modifications across Torness Power Station. The role combines engineering design with nuclear safety considerations to ensure compliance with site licence conditions and industry standards.

You will work with multidisciplinary teams, regulators and operations to deliver safe, reliable and efficient plant modifications. The position is site-based with flexible working arrangements.

Qualifications

• A degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Experience in engineering design, safety case production, safety assessment, or technical justification activities.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to communicate complex engineering concepts to technical and non‑technical audiences.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver EC&I design solutions for electrical, control, and instrumentation systems.
• Produce and review Engineering Changes (ECs) and supporting technical docs.
• Undertake safety assessments and technical evaluations for plant modifications.
• Support hazard identification, risk assessments and safety analyses.
• Develop regulatory justifications and submissions demonstrating nuclear safety compliance.
• Assess impacts of modifications on safety cases and documentation.
• Coordinate with operations, maintenance, safety case, commissioning and project teams.
