Job summary

JMC Legal Recruitment is seeking an NQ Solicitor to join the Non-Contentious Construction team in City of London. This is a fantastic opportunity to start your career with strong mentorship, hands-on experience and exposure to high-quality matters.

You will draft and negotiate construction documents, advise on JCT, NEC and FIDIC contracts, and develop your technical and commercial skills within a supportive, collaborative culture at a long‑standing City firm.

Qualifications

• Newly Qualified Solicitor in England & Wales, or due to qualify in September 2026.
• Training contract experience in Construction, ideally non-contentious.
• Genuine interest in developing a career in Construction and Projects.
• Good understanding of construction contracts (JCT, NEC or FIDIC).
• Strong academics and attention to detail.
• Commercial awareness and willingness to learn.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Collaborative approach and enthusiasm for working in a close-knit team.

Responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate construction and project documentation.
• Assist with procurement and contracting strategies across projects.
• Advise on standard form contracts (JCT, NEC, FIDIC).
• Assist with bespoke construction agreements and amendments.
• Support due diligence on development and investment projects.
• Advise clients across sectors including residential development, housing, accommodation, healthcare, education, commercial and infrastructure.
• Support clients with contractual and risk management issues throughout the lifecycle of projects.
• Work alongside senior lawyers on complex and high-value construction matters.
• Develop understanding of construction contracts and the commercial considerations affecting clients.
