Job description

We have an exciting new opportunity for a New Product Introduction Purchasing Specialist for a 12-month fixed term contract. The New Product Introduction (NPI) purchasing specialist (Contract) is a member of the Wolverhampton site purchasing organisation and is responsible for supporting the procurement of direct material required to introduce the development and build of new product to the business on time.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities
  • Work with suppliers to prioritise key purchased parts to ensure commit dates meet program need dates.
  • Interrogate lines of balance and program plans to identify critical paths and key purchased parts.
  • Work with suppliers to explore and implement expedite opportunities where commit dates do not meet the program need dates.
  • Communicate and agree expedite costs with Program Sourcing/Program Management.
  • Liaise between supplier and MOOG Supply Chain functions to coordinate and resolve Quality and Manufacturing Engineering related issues.
  • Coordinate with supplier leads regarding performance of existing suppliers in delivery of materials and services to contract and/or project price and timescales. Coordinate directly with project-unique suppliers.
  • Maintain alignment with Sourcing teams to help develop or leverage best practice for procurement processes for requirements definition, supplier selection, contract negotiation and contract performance.
  • Develop and maintain professional and productive relationships with both internal customers and external suppliers and maintain agreed status reporting and communication channels.
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures and safety rules as stated in the Employee Handbook and otherwise posted or communicated.
  • Exemplify the Moog culture and values in all aspects of assigned duties.

Qualifications
  • Ability to work on own initiative.
  • Knowledge of AS9145 would be helpful, being the foundation for Moog's MAPQP and PPAP frameworks for new product introduction.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred along with Project/Program Management experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years progressive work experience in the fields of technical purchasing, manufacturing or engineering.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills, detail oriented, and able to understand complex equipment, regulation, and procedural requirements.
  • Ability to deal with a variety of tasks at any one time and understand the priorities to meet deadlines.
  • IT literate: Microsoft Office applications (familiarity with Microsoft Project ideal), MRP, general business management systems, interpretation of bills of material, and ability to run lines of balance.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of internal customers, stakeholders, and external suppliers.
  • Experience in influencing decisions and project lead.
  • Established procurement skillset including negotiation strategy development and execution, contract development, financial analysis, and general supplier management.
  • Ability to work well with others and on cross‑functional teams.
  • Self‑motivated/directed and driven to achieve organizational goals and objectives.
  • Proven ability to utilize industry information and benchmarking, draw upon knowledge, research data using internal and external global market sources, interpret stakeholder requirements, and leverage actionable data analytics to evaluate strategies, develop options, and execute tactics for sustainable sourcing solutions.
  • Potential travel to other Moog locations and suppliers when required (up to 40‑50%).
  • Knowledge of Trade Compliance requirements regarding sharing technical data.
  • CIPS preferred.
