Who is New England Seafood International?

New England Seafood International (NESI) was established in 1991 and is an importer and processor of premium fresh and frozen sustainable fish and seafood. NESI employs circa 850 people across three sites in the UK and imports a wide range of wild and farmed fish and shellfish from all around the world. We are part of the Sealaska Corporation, an Alaska Native corporation formed in 1971 and which is owned by 26,000 Tlingit, Haida and Tsimshian shareholders, who are all bloodline descendants of the first settlers to the Americas.

Accountabilities
  • Launching products on time and on budget
  • Ensuring that the product is set up correctly and handed over to the factory operations team.
  • Organise and conduct product and packaging trials – collating samples, yield information and processes.
  • Plan and organise resources to achieve the day‑to‑day delivery of trials etc, in‑line with Project timescales.
  • Coordinate internal and external sample requests
  • Coordinate shelf‑life taste panels
  • Writing Quality contracts.
  • Review and sign off artwork and labels.
  • Carryout and organise samples for customers and internal meetings.
  • Developing clear and concise handover packs
  • Supporting cost engineering incentives for current product lines
  • Guardian of quality benchmarking of our NESI products against the competition
  • Attending NPD and production meetings to ensure cross functional understanding of product knowledge and communicating the importance of product launch.
  • Support the Process Development Manager in optimising the Grimsby NPD processes – building excellent working relationships with the cross‑functional teams and when necessary, our customers.
Experience
  • Competent using IT software packages including Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Previous experience within a manufacturing environment in one of the following areas: Process, Development, Technical, Production
  • Ideally minimum of 1 year’s experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Good organisational skills and project coordination
  • Good attention to detail and spots opportunities for improvement
  • A pragmatic problem solver and agile in finding solutions
  • A self‑starter who is keen and driven to improve
