Job summary

Kingston Barnes Engineering in the Dursley area seeks a skilled Maintenance Engineer to manage planned and reactive maintenance with no night shifts. You will diagnose electrical and mechanical faults, keeping plant running safely and efficiently.

You’ll work with the Production team to improve reliability, reduce waste, and drive continuous improvement. Strong communication and independent working are essential as you report to the Engineering Manager.

Qualifications

• NVQ level 3 qualified or similar.
• Electrical Engineering Apprenticeship or equivalent.
• Strong knowledge of manufacturing automated equipment & processes including pneumatic, hydraulic, and instrumentation-controlled systems.
• Strong diagnostic experience in high-volume manufacturing or process environments.
• Experience in a food manufacturing environment or similar manufacturing setting is desirable.
• Electrical bias or multi-skilled background.
• PLC experience highly desirable.
• Experience with SAP highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Keep plant and equipment running safely and efficiently.
• Carry out planned and reactive maintenance and respond to breakdowns to minimise downtime.
• Work closely with Production to improve reliability, reduce waste and drive CI.
• Take ownership of electrical systems and ensure safety standards are met.
• Support root cause investigations following significant breakdowns.
• Communicate effectively and work independently; shift-based role (no nights).
• Report to Engineering Manager.
