Job summary

Keoghs is seeking an experienced File Handler to join the Industrial Disease team in a permanent, full-time role. The primary location is Bolton or Birmingham, handling predominately NIHL claims with support from Counsel and experts.

You will progress claims from inception to resolution, ensuring procedural compliance, timely reports and profitable file management within a collaborative Legal department.

Qualifications

• Experience handling litigated NIHL claims.
• Strong understanding of litigation processes and disclosure requirements.
• Ability to review evidence, medical records and witness statements.
• Experience instructing Counsel and Experts and attending hearings.
• Strong drafting, research and communication skills.
• Ability to build relationships with Insurers and Insureds.
• Excellent organisation and time management, meeting court deadlines.
• Knowledge of SRA Standards & Regulations and Keoghs values.

Responsibilities

• Reviewing documentation, evidence and medical records and preparing detailed reports.
• Handling disclosure and ensuring procedural compliance.
• Conducting investigations and obtaining witness statements.
• Instructing and liaising with Counsel and expert witnesses.
• Undertaking legal research to support case strategy.
• Drafting legal documents, correspondence and pleadings.
• Attending conferences, court hearings and trials with Counsel.
• Maintaining effective communication with parties and updating Insurers/Insureds.
• Progressing claims per litigation strategies to best outcomes.
• Ensuring accurate file management and profitability.
