Job summary

Sainsbury's in the United Kingdom is seeking a lead nightshift manager to oversee overnight operations and replenish goods for the morning trading. You will lead a team of managers, plan for key trading events, and ensure safety and high standards across the store.

The role requires strong leadership, KPI focus, and experience in managing performance, absence and employee relations. Night shifts run 22:00–08:00 with a £4,500 premium added to the base salary.

Qualifications

• Experience leading large teams in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.
• Track record of delivering exceptional customer experiences across complex operations.
• Proven success delivering and improving KPIs including sales, stock availability, and customer satisfaction.
• Experience managing sensitive and complex people matters with fairness and sound judgement.
• Leadership in an operational retail/hospitality/food service environment.
• Evidence of leading change and embedding new ways of working.
• Desirable: night shift experience in a high-volume environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a small team of managers overnight and ensure replenishment for the morning.
• Plan for upcoming key trading activities with store leadership.
• People management including pay, scheduling, training and disciplinary actions.
• Accountable for the store overnight, coaching for high standards and efficiency.
• Maintain health and safety for all colleagues on shift.
