Job summary

Pertemps North West and North Wales in Warrington is seeking a Night Yard Controller to support safe, efficient yard operations during the night shift. You will book drivers and third-party hauliers, process inbound and outbound paperwork, and act as the link between yard, warehouse, transport teams, shunters and hauliers.

The role requires coordinating trailer movements, updating systems, and ensuring accurate records.

Qualifications

• Experience in yard operations or logistics is desirable.
• Ability to coordinate with drivers, hauliers, and warehousing teams.
• Strong documentation and paperwork accuracy for night operations.

Responsibilities

• Book drivers and third-party hauliers onto site and manage related paperwork.
• Liaise with warehouse teams to confirm bay requirements for cross-dock trailers.
• Link inbound consignments to trailers and create consignments when needed.
• Coordinate outbound deliveries and DRP loads; assist ESL Transport when needed.
• Manage third-party hauliers on site and obtain load details and paperwork.
• Maintain an overview of drivers waiting on site and ensure efficient routing.
• Update the BIFG tracker, match container IDs and delivery times to paperwork.
• Create delivery notes for every consignment leaving site.
• Print and process cross-dock paperwork; respond to queries from ESL.
• Handle customer transport queries and escalate issues to transport teams.
• Monitor yard capacity and supervise site moves with shunters.
• Control staff car park barrier and record visitors as required.
• Ensure safety procedures during night operations and maintain office readiness.
