Job summary

Fowler Welch in Washington seeks an experienced Yard Shunter to support a busy chilled logistics operation. This is a dedicated yard‑based role, ideal for someone who has shunting experience and is seeking a stable position rather than road driving.

The shift is Friday to Monday from 18:00 to 06:00. You will move trailers, monitor yard safety, operate a yard shunting vehicle, and work with transport and warehouse teams to keep the operation running smoothly while maintaining safety and

Qualifications

Previous yard shunting experience preferred.
Dedicated shunting role with required pace and safety standards.
Class 1 licence experience preferred though not required for road driving.
Safety‑first approach when moving trailers in live yard operations.
Reliable with good communication within a transport team.

Responsibilities

Move trailers safely on and off loading bays throughout the shift.
Monitor, patrol and maintain safe yard movements to support operations.
Operate a dedicated yard‑based shunting vehicle.
Ensure trailers are positioned correctly and loaded on time.
Work closely with transport and warehouse teams to keep the operation running smoothly.
Liaise with other departments to support smooth loading/unloading.
Maintain high standards of health, safety, hygiene and housekeeping.
