Job summary

YMCA Humber in Grimsby is seeking a Night Welfare Officer to ensure a safe, calm environment in supported living during overnight hours. You will provide a visible presence, conduct welfare and security checks, and respond to concerns in line with safeguarding protocols.

The role requires emotional resilience, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to de-escalate concerns using restorative approaches. You will log information for the next shift and work with a collaborative team.

Qualifications

• Emotional resilience and ability to stay calm in challenging situations.

• Ability to respond appropriately to behavioural concerns using restorative approaches.
• Willingness to log information clearly for handovers.

Responsibilities

• Carry out welfare, room, and security checks during night shifts.
• Monitor CCTV and manage out-of-hours access for residents and staff.
• Record incidents accurately and hand over clear updates to the next shift.
• Support residents with welfare needs in a respectful, calm manner.
• Collaborate with staff and partners to maintain safety and wellbeing.
