Job summary

Gist, part of the M&S Group, is seeking a Night Warehouse Section Leader for Hemel Hempstead (Maylands). You will lead a warehouse team, ensuring safe, efficient operations while coaching colleagues to succeed on 4-on-4-off nights. Drive performance and safety across the shift.

In this hands-on role, you’ll work with the Shift Manager to cultivate a positive culture, manage priorities, and maintain high standards of service, quality and productivity in a busy logistics environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in a warehouse supervisory, team leader or section leader role.
• Experience leading and motivating operational teams within a busy warehouse or logistics environment.
• Ability to coach colleagues, provide constructive feedback and build high-performing teams.
• Strong communication and organisation skills with the confidence to make decisions under pressure.
• Proactive approach to problem solving and continuous improvement.
• Good understanding of warehouse operations and operational KPIs.
• Experience using Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) or similar operating systems.
• Commitment to maintaining high standards of safety, compliance and customer service.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team within your designated warehouse area to deliver daily plans safely and efficiently.
• Provide direction, coaching and regular feedback to colleagues to support performance and development.
• Create a positive, inclusive working environment with staff motivation and high performance.
• Monitor operations and deliver key service, productivity and quality KPIs.
• Support induction of new colleagues and ensure mandatory training is completed.
• Conduct Return to Work interviews and support colleague wellbeing.
• Promote safety by identifying risks and ensuring compliance with procedures.
• Respond quickly to operational challenges to keep the operation running smoothly.
• Encourage continuous improvement by acting on feedback and implementing ideas.
• Collaborate with other teams to ensure excellent customer service and operational excellence.
