Job summary

Fowler Welch, part of the Culina Group, is seeking a Transport Operator in Evesham to manage driver utilisation, communicate job instructions, and ensure service levels meet cost and safety constraints. The role reports to transport leadership and involves coordinating with planning and compliance teams.

Salary £28,000–£30,000 per year, with Wednesday–Saturday night shifts 19:30–07:30. This full-time position requires experience in transport operations and strong organisational skills.

Qualifications

• Experience of working within a distribution / transport environment.
• Experience of managing own workload within a pressurised environment.
• Sound geographical knowledge.
• Basic understanding of driver’s hours regulations/Tachograph law.
• Excellent organisational skills. Strong communication skills (written and verbal).
• Initiative and the ability to work unsupervised.

Responsibilities

• Communicate all elements of the job to drivers and sub-contractors.
• Plan the effective utilisation of drivers, vehicles, sub-contractors and agencies.
• Ensure drivers work within safe hours regulations.
• Liaise with planning to optimise fleet/driver utilisation and on-time delivery.
• Assist in equipment control, ensuring customer requirements are met and recorded.
• Work with Compliance to ensure trucks are legal and information downloaded timely.
• Investigate accidents or driver performance and escalate to Transport Supervisors/HR.
• Assist Supervisors in talking to drivers about risk management and improving driving style.
• Undertake additional tasks as required by Management.
