Job summary

Fowler Welch, part of the Culina Group, invites applications for a Transport Operator in Teynham. You will manage vehicle utilisation, give clear instructions to drivers and sub-contractors, and ensure service levels are met cost-effectively within driver hours and H&S rules.

Qualifications

• Experience of working within a distribution/transport environment.
• Ability to manage own workload in a pressurised environment.
• Good geographical knowledge of the UK.
• Basic understanding of driver hours regulations/tachograph law.
• Excellent organisational skills.

Responsibilities

• Effectively communicating plan to drivers and sub-contractors.
• Plan driver, vehicle, sub-contractor and agency utilisation to cover all company sites.
• Ensure drivers operate within driver hours regulations and stay compliant.
• Liaise with planning team to optimise fleet and driver utilisation and solve delivery issues.
• Assist in equipment control and ensure customer requirements are recorded.
• Work with Compliance to keep trucks legal and information downloaded timely.
• Conduct initial investigations into incidents and driver performance, escalating as needed.
• Support Supervisors in coaching drivers on Safe Driving and cost management.
• Undertake additional duties as required by management.
